In this interview, Mayor Chuck Reed, the Green Mayor, describes how the City of San Jose is helping clean tech startups and established companies grow and thrive in Silicon Valley.

Why should a clean tech startup relocate to Silicon Valley?

What are the key elements of the Silicon Valley ecosystem that support clean tech?

How is San Jose City Council and the State of California helping and incentivizing clean tech?

“We have to be the best place in the world to grow a business.”

“We’re anxiously waiting for the technological breakthroughs (in energy storage). That’s what’s exciting about being in Silicon Valley…somebody in a garage is working on an idea today or somebody at San Jose State University is working on that idea today and it’s going to be exciting when it happens.”

The interview was recorded on November 7, 2008 at San Jose’s City Hall.
